We live on a street that’s popular with walkers, so there’s a steady – but fleeting – stream of models right out the front door. I enjoy the challenge of drawing mostly from memory; seeing someone for about 5 seconds then quickly getting the essence of their look and locomotion onto paper

I drew this in my lined notebook, then eliminated the lines from the background in Photoshop, with lines remaining in the drawn portion. It’s interesting because the lines flatten out the image.

Public events are a great place for drawing and musicians are especially good subjects because they’re expressive and usually hold a pose for awhile.
If this was on unlined paper I’d fix it up in Photoshop, but this way you get to see all my mistakes.
This was drawn at a jazz concert at River Park in Geneva.
