This, and many other crucial questions were investigated during my presentations and workshops at Stone Scholastic Academy in Chicago on May 7th. Stone Academy is a magnet school focused on diversity. They also put a healthy emphasis on creativity, which shows in the students, who gave me loads of inspiration.
In my book-creating workshop for kids, each student is given a randomly-arrived-at juxtaposition of character and setting. This 3rd grader ended up with a gnome in a snowstorm, and needed a little help drawing a gnome.
I have the best job in the world.
