I just love the idea of a steam train with animals aboard for a couple of reasons. First, I am a former first grade teacher and I know children always love books about animals. Second, I am a big fan of trains in general and I can’t think of anything more wonderful than riding behind a steam engine. I am very excited to read this book when it comes out!
Just got goodnight construction site and love your illustration! I was curious what media you used, I guessed oil pastel and my husband guessed crayon. Amazon said you used wax oil pastel. But I believe there’s oil pastel and wax pastel, and not sure what “wax oil pastel” means. Would you kindly let me know what type or even brand of pastels you used? I do some drawing for fun and would love to try pastels, just not sure which kind and brand to sart with.
Rebecca,
The specific medium for Construction Site is Neocolor I Wax Oil Pastels on Mi-Teintes paper. I used this technique for the way it make luminous images with some gritty texture. I always pick a technique appropriate to the subject of the book, so I am a dabbler in many mediums and master of none. Here’s a link to more info about how I work. Thanks for your interest.
